Resolve the GPS Date Error "Year 2099" in PSA RNEG Systems
On April 5, 2019, many Peugeot and Citroen owners with RNEG (Wip Nav) navigation systems encountered an unexpected issue. The system date was being automatically set to August 2099, and the altitude values were incorrect. This problem affected vehicles produced between 2008 and 2012.
What Caused the GPS Error?
The error stems from the "GPS rollover," a phenomenon where the GPS time epoch ended and a new one began. Legacy systems, like PSA RNEG systems with firmware versions R20.XX, R30.XX, and R40.XX, rely on GPS signals for date, time, and altitude. Without synchronization, the altitude values remain incorrect, but the date appears unaffected. Once synchronized, the system sets the date to 2099.
How to Fix the Issue
The good news is that a firmware update is available to resolve this issue. By upgrading to firmware version R50.03, your system will correctly interpret GPS signals, restoring accurate date and altitude values.
Download the firmware update for PSA RNEG systems and follow the provided instructions to update your system.
